Itinerary

Barcelona
Sunday, March 5

  • Arrival at a designated hotel in Barcelona. All participants should arrive before 6pm.
  • Meet in the hotel lobby with SSA staff at 7pm.
  • Welcome orientation with Director of Academic AffairsDr. Michelle Durán, and Barcelona Resident Director and SSA’s Barcelona office.
  • Welcome dinner with students.

  • Monday, March 6

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Meet at hotel lobby with SSA staff. Depart by bus for a visit to La Sagrada Familia
  • Sagrada Familia visit
  • Meet with Director of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) Study Abroad
  • Depart by bus for Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF)
  • Meet with UPF’s Director of Study Abroad
  • Lunch at a beachside restaurant
  • Class visits at UPF or UAB.
  • Free time and dinner on own
  • Barcelona - Alicante
    Tuesday, March 7

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Visit to ELISAVA School of Design in La Rambla.
  • Private bus to airport. Lunch at airport. Flight to Alicante.
  • Arrive in ALC. Private bus from airport to hotel
  • Meet in the lobby for Welcome Orientation with Dr. Michelle Durán and Alicante Resident Director
  • Afternoon Cultural visits to Castillo de Santa Bárbara, Cathedral, "Casco Antiguo" (historic downtown)
  • Welcome Dinner in downtown Alicante

  • Wednesday, March 8

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Depart by private bus to Universidad de Alicante (UA)
  • Meeting at SSA office with SSA-ALC staff
  • Class visits at UA
  • Coffee breat at the University
  • Welcome meeting with CSI (Centro Superior de Idiomas/Language Center of the University of Alicante)
  • Tour of UA with SSA staff
  • Lunch at UA with SSA staff and students
  • Choose between visits to homestays/internships or Spanish Civil War shelter in Alicante
  • Farewell Dinner
  • Seville
    Thursday, March 9

  • Hotel check-out and breakfast to go; transfer to airport for flight to Seville
  • Private bus transfer from airport to hotel for check-in
  • Meet with SSA staff in the hotel lobby for a short walk to Spanish Studies Abroad Center; tour of building and short orientation
  • Tapas with SSA staff, Resident Director and faculty at our Landmark Center in Historic Downtown
  • Afternoon class visits at the Center
  • Free time and dinner on own

  • Friday, March 10

  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Meet with SSA staff in the hotel lobby
  • Homestay and Residencia visits
  • Choose between visits to University of Seville and/or internship & service learning placements. Visit to Pablo de Olavide University (UPO) are also available. (20 minute subway ride).
  • Lunch on own
  • Meet in the hotel lobby for an afternoon visit to the Cathedral of Seville
  • Depart for Flamenco show, followed by farewell dinner

  • Saturday, March 11

  • Hotel check-out and departure
