Welcome to Spanish Flavors: Start your adventure with a friendly welcome dinner, where you’ll savor local dishes like arroz alicantino and indulge in authentic Spanish tapas, connecting with fellow students and our local team.

Alicante’s Old Town: Meander through the charming streets of El Barrio, the old quarter, where history echoes through ancient architecture and lively plazas.

Castillo de Santa Bárbara Tour: Visit this iconic castle perched on Mount Benacantil, offering panoramic views of the city and a deep dive into local history.

Exploring Explanada de España: Stroll along this vibrant avenue, lined with palm trees and mosaic tiles, encapsulating the spirit of Alicante.

Uncover Hidden Gems: Join our ‘Hidden Alicante’ walking tour to discover the city’s lesser-known but equally fascinating spots.

My role is to provide you with the necessary resources with which to maximize your experience in Alicante. You will choose courses to satisfy your intellectual and academic requirements. Extracurricular activities supplement your coursework, allowing you to live the culture as you further your own interests. These activities include dance, theater, sports, cooking, volunteering, tutoring in English, etc. The key is to find a good combination of study and leisure so that you may achieve your individual objectives and benefit each day from this unique experience.

Student Residences

Students opting for a study abroad experience in Alicante can immerse themselves in the vibrant student life through our residence halls. Alicante, a city known for its stunning coastline and lively cultural scene, attracts a diverse group of international and Spanish students, making its student residences a melting pot of cultures and experiences.

The residences in Alicante are strategically located to ensure students are never far from the city’s key attractions and beautiful beaches. These halls offer a unique social environment, where students can forge lasting friendships and engage with peers from various backgrounds.

Due to the popularity of Alicante as a study destination, we cannot always guarantee placement in a specific hall of residence. Prices may vary, and additional charges over our program costs could be required, including funds for meals.

If you are interested in staying in one of the student residences, please inform us as early as possible to assist in securing your accommodation, which may involve a deposit. Rest assured, SSA carefully selects all student residence options to ensure safety, cleanliness, and convenience for a comfortable and enriching stay in Alicante.

Language/History/Cultural Studies

SPAN 379UAS-E is a course that provides a comprehensive survey of Spanish art. Through lectures, discussions, and visual analysis, students explore significant artistic movements, styles, and works of art from various periods in Spanish art history. Emphasis is placed on understanding the cultural, social, and historical contexts that shaped artistic production in Spain. Topics may include medieval art, Renaissance art, Baroque art, modernism, and contemporary art. By studying key artists, artworks, and art theories, students gain a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of Spanish art across different epochs and regions.

Global Peace/International Relations

The subject aims to analyze the past, present and future of European integration, on the basis of historic and economic reasoning, as well as its connections with the Mediterranean area. The process of European integration and its effects will be assessed taking into account differences in European Member States economies as well as considering the EU as a whole at the international level. The role of Spain in the EU and the EU´s relationships with the countries in the Mediterranean area will be analysed. Issues of intercultural communication between both sides of the Mediterranean sea will be discussed.

Immersive Local Workshops

In this introductory cooking course students learn the basics of traditional Spanish cuisine, especially that of the coastal region. Please note that there are additional fees for LTC courses.
