Summer Professional Development for Spanish Teachers at the Universidad de Alicante (July 2023)

Experienced language teachers will send you home with practical approaches to use in your classroom

SSA in partnership with the Universidad de Alicante, offers a unique, skills-building seminar for US Spanish teachers. Alicante provides a beautiful, Mediterranean backdrop to this professional development program. Participants will have 4 classroom hours (9am – 1:30pm, Monday – Friday) per day followed by memorable cultural activities in the afternoon. A team of experienced teachers from the university’s Centro Superior de Idiomas will provide the in-class content.

One classroom session will be dedicated to each of the following (actual titles may vary slightly):

  • Technology in the Classroom
  • Culture in the Classroom
  • Boosting Oral Skills
  • Presenting Grammar in a Fun Way
  • Developing Reading Skills
Included in the price: airport pick-up, tuition, housing (if selected), city tour, trip to Valencia, visit to winery, cooking workshop, beach trip and more. Transcripts are provided by the Universidad de Alicante (2 ECTS or 1 US university credit).

Pricing of the program if you choose

  • Price: Homestay – $1,300 (full board), 
  • Residence Hall – $1,800 (full board)
  • Independent Housing – $1,000 (meals are not included).
  • Prices do not include airfare or transportation within Spain

The dates for this program are July 7 (arrival) and July 16, 2023 (departure from Alicante).
