What professional development do we offer Spanish teachers?
A professional development opportunity – in beautiful Alicante, Spain – to learn about the latest language-learning techniques. You will gain new tools, ideas, and resources to incorporate into your teaching.
The course is planned in independent but complementary sessions, of 4 hours each, with a clear practical orientation, where teachers will have the opportunity to participate in the activities that they will later use with their students.


Experienced language teachers will send you home with practical approaches to use in your classroom
- A skills-building seminar
- 4 classroom hours (9am – 1:30pm, Monday – Friday, 30-minute break included)
- memorable cultural activities in the afternoon.
- A team of experienced teachers from the university’s Centro Superior de Idiomas will provide the in-class content.

Syllabus
One classroom session will be dedicated to each of the following (actual titles may vary slightly):

- Culture in the Classroom
- Boosting Oral Skills
- Presenting Grammar in a Fun Way
- Developing Reading Skills
BLOCK 1 - WHAT DO I TEACH? CAN I MAKE IT EVEN BETTER?
- Session 1 - How to develop oral skills in the Spanish classroom | How to develop written skills | Integration of skills.
- Session 2 - The teaching of grammar and vocabulary with a highly practical approach
- Session 3 - The development of intercultural awareness | The material and my context: a complex relationship | What is situated learning?
BLOCK 2 - WHO DO I TEACH? STUDENTS IN THE XXI CENTURY
- Session 4 - How to motivate my students? | Individual variables in learning | New technology | "News for whom?" | Technological resources and creativity in the ELE classroom.
- Session 5 - Audiovisual resources in the ELE class of the 21st century | Audiovisual literacy | Multimodal learning | Importance of social networks in today's Spanish classroom.
Pricing
Included in the price: tuition, room & board, cultural activities, day trips, welcome/farewell meals, health insurance, course materials, ground transportation for official program activities
Not included: airfare, personal expenses
Lodging for the program is at Villa Universitaria (the residence hall of the University of Alicante).
